NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION OPENOFFICE.ORG 2011












DAY OF OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE AND CONFERENCE KPM 2011 MALAYSIA OPEN SOURCE PROGRAM (MyGOSSCON 2011) ORGANISED BY THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (MOE) JOINT Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU)
 
 
The competition was organized to introduce the open source software and also to expand its use among primary school pupils and secondary schools in Malaysia.OpenOffice.org competition was first introduced in 2009 organized by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE). In accordance with the Master Plan of the Public Sector Open Source Software Malaysia, the competition hopes to raise awareness about open source software such as OpenOffice.org among pupils of primary and secondary schools as well as providing incentives to students for their talent and creativity.
 
In 2010, the competition is open to OpenOffice.org had high school students (Form 1 - 5) in the Central Zone which covers schools in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. This year, with the MOE to continue MAMPU OpenOffice.org national competition open to all schools in Malaysia.
 
The objective of this competition are as follows:
(a) Increasing the awareness of open source software such as OpenOffice.org among pupils of primary and secondary schools throughout Malaysia. 
(B) Encourage the pupils of primary and secondary schools throughout Malaysia for the use of open standards like Open Document Format (ODF) 
(c) To reward students for their talent and creativity in the use of open source software.
 
Competition categories are divided into two (2) categories, Primary and Secondary School Category.
